Pittsburgh Artists Receive 11 Nominations

for Just Plain Folks Music Awards

Full List of Nominees

In 1985, Just Plain Folks' underlying philosophy of inclusiveness and support (as well as its name) was established by then Depauw University student Brian Austin Whitney. Although the orginal organization was primarily made up of theater actors, Just Plain Folks' current incarnation, based in Indianapolis, IN is "an ever growing group of songwriters, recording artists, music publishers, record labels, performing arts societies, educational institutions, recording studios and engineers, producers, legal professionals, publicists and journalists, publications, music manufacturers and retailers and about every other type of member of the music industry."

The 2002 Just Plain Folks Music Awards selection committee received over 7,800 CDs and more than 100,000 songs to be reviewed. From this immense pool, Pittsburgh artists secured eleven nominations including five for singer/songwriter Dave Pahanish. The annual Just Plain Folks Music Awards show will be held in Los Angeles in early 2003.
